Multiple Columbine Survivors, including Heather Martin and Zach Cartaya, in the wake of the Auora theater shooting in 2012.
History and Mission

The Rebels Project was formed by a group of Columbine survivors in the wake of the Aurora theater shooting in 2012.

These survivors simply wanted to offer their support for those who had experienced similar trauma. The Rebels Project seeks to embrace, support, and connect survivors of mass tragedy and trauma by creating a safe environment to share unique resources, experiences, and provide education surrounding the varying effects of mass trauma. What makes our organization unique is that every member of our leadership team is also a member of the survivor community.

Having first-hand knowledge of the varying
long-term effects of mass trauma assists in our
understanding that recovery looks different for everyone.

Our focus is to continue building a network of survivors who can connect with one another in times of need.
