One World Strong
Founded by
Dave Fortier who suffered shrapnel wounds and hearing loss in the first Boston Marathon bomb.
History and Mission

Founded by Davie Fontier. Dave is a survivor of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings. Dave was running his very first marathon to help support a dear friend dealing with cancer when he was injured by the first bomb. He suffered shrapnel wounds and hearing loss. He has since gone on to run 18 additional marathons in Boston, Paris, New York, Florida and Washington DC. Dave's passion for helping other survivors of terror and trauma eventually led him to found the One World Strong Foundation, where he now serves as President. In the days following the Boston Marathon bombings, those of us who survived the attack received an amazing outpouring of love and support from people just like you throughout the world. We'll never forget how members of the Semper Fi Fund, a group of veterans injured in Iraq and Afghanistan, traveled to Boston to provide one-on-one mentorship and guidance to survivors who sustained similar injuries to their own.

It helped us to imagine the possibility of a positive future when we needed it most. And the long-term relationships that ensued also allowed us to move through the healing process, both physically and emotionally, in a much faster way.
We are deeply grateful for the support we received in our darkest hours, and we recognize we now have the very unique ability to "pay it forward" by providing this invaluable service to others.

Our goal is to build an international community of survivors, dedicated to helping others who are impacted by terrorism, hate or trauma in their time of need. One World Strong's mission is to establish a vibrant international community of survivors of terrorism, hate crimes, or traumatic events that provides peer-to-peer hope, support, and mentorship to anyone impacted by these events.

The One World Strong Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of those impacted by terrorist attacks, hate crimes or traumatic events.

We endeavor to provide compassionate, non-political and non-religious support to individuals and families within a few weeks of the incident--when the full weight of a new reality can be overwhelming--and then be there for them throughout the healing process, however long that takes.

Our extensive network of partners enables us to respond to any terrorist attack, hate crime or traumatic event--wherever that may occur in the world--to support survivors and families who lost loved ones through their transition to a new reality.
